2001
Columbia Crest/
Johannisberg Riesling
Columbia Valley, Washington
$5.99 (World Market)
Ripe, full-bodied fruit with some depth. Feels almost creamy, but it's very light. Just enough warmth. A great value.
4 - delicious
Le Souris selected this wine and and the following comments: "Shockingly drinkable. Not not good. 4.1 on the Boone's scale highest non-Boone's rating." (this is Le Souris' favorite to date).

2001
Calina
Carmenère Reserve
Maule Valley, Chile
$7.49 (Central Market)
Suggests sweetness at first, but definitely not sweet. Very dark, full, spicy, and complex. Dry and perhaps a little salty. Light start, long finish.
4 - Delicious
Le Souris said: "Probably what battery acid tastes like."

2001
Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo
Cabernet Sauvignon
Central Valley, Chile
$10.99 (Central Valley)
Feels very light, but with rich, deep flavor. Perfect acidity and complexity. Tight, rich fruit, tannins.
4 - delicious
Le Souris: "All wine smells the same. This is devil wine. I can choke it down. One on the Boone's scale. Best red I've ever had."

2001
Badger Mountain
Sevé
Washington State (Certified Organic Vineyard)
$7.99 (Central Market)
Effervescent and delightfully acidic. Hint of sweetness. Some depth.
3 - very good
Le Souris: "Smells acidic. Non-sweet high-class Boone's taste. 3 on the Boone's scale."

2000
Marquis de Chasse
Merlot
Bordeaux, France
$6.99 (Central Market)
Big, tart sour, and salty. Feels hot.
2 - Good

2000
Baron Philipe de Rothschild
Mouton Cadet
Bordeaux
~$7 (Grape Vine Market)
Acidic, sour, with sharp effervescence. Not too unpleasant. Seems to go well with stuff.
2 - Good
Le Souris: Smells wine-y. Ain't bad. I can drink this. Perhaps some beer aftertaste I still have is making this taste better.

2000
Los Vascos
Cabernet Sauvignon
Colchuaga Valley, Chile
$7.99 (World Market)
Olives, wood, dirt. Very smooth, dry, and richly fruity. Warm and yummy with spice like black pepper.
4 - Delicious
Le Souris: "Smells of wine." (Look of utter disbelief.) "Acetone. Never really tasted kerosene, but maybe that's it. and pears. Doesn't even get one on the Boone's scale. Lingering crappy taste. Still."
