2001
Duck Pond
Pinot Gris
$11.99 (Grape Vine Market)
Tart, but not acidic. Dry, with slight effervescence. Clean, with hints of lemon and lime. Le Souris commented: "Smells like wine - vinegar-y. Drinkable, not like most shit. Not up to Boone-ish levels. 0.4 on the Boone's scale. Did a damn good job." (Le Souris selected this one.)

Tastes like peppered tomatoes that have been stewing a long time. Seems like it would be deep and full-bodied, but it isn't. Le Souris asks "is it vinegar?"

Chateau du Basty
Beaujolais Santignie (Nouveau)
France
$8.99 (Central Market)
Big, fruity, round, with lots of soil. Hint of apple. Taste very French, with definite Beaujolais Nouveau character, but also something very different. Le Souris describes as "apple vinegar."

<$10 (World Market)
Very woody and tannic. Rich, dark fruit. Reminiscent of a plum reduction sauce with a spicy kick.
